My name is Chinomnso Ewelike. I was born and raised in Nigeria in a large Catholic family. To tell you how large my family is I will say that we are one person short of the twelve tribes of Israel. So that explains how large it is. There are six boys and five girls. All of us, including my parents, are still living! I am grateful to God for such a gift of life.
The strong bond I have with my family plus cultural impact and the Catholic teachings all contributed in shaping who I am today and the faith I have in God. I was a member of another religious congregation for many years but as God would have it, my journey changed toward the direction of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
I came to know the SND on the Internet when I was searching for different religious congregations. Some of the things that attracted me to Notre Dame are: simplicity, internationality, community, ministry to the poor, diversity, prayer life, and the response to the times. To me, it was a light bulb moment. Having lived with and been in contact with other congregations, SND felt right to me then and continues to feel right now.
I am a novice with a BA in Religious Studies and a BSN with license. As I continue on the novitiate process, I become more interested in learning about myself, Jesus, St. Julie Billiart and her spirituality, the SND constitution and the Church in general. Besides God's inspiration, St. Julie's life is fascinating to me. Her life story has become the source of my inspiration.
I am excited about learning more about Notre Dame world and the richness which is manifested in its diversity and unity. With that I can join St. Julie to say that God is good indeed!
