The newest Sister in the California Province spent most of her adult life as wife and mother.  After becoming widowed, Nancy Jo Uhl responded to an inner call to take her life in a different direction.

With the counsel and support of her parish priest, good friends, and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, she found herself on a new path, strengthened by a life-long desire to work with the poor and oppressed. On Saturday, February 12, she made her First Vows as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur in a beautiful ceremony at the Province Center in Belmont. Surrounded by her children, close friends, and her community, Sr. Nancy Uhl, SND, professed her vows, entering a covenant with her Sisters in mutual service to God's people.
