Twenty Associates from across the U.S. gathered in July for the first National Assembly of SNDs in Cherry Hills, New Jersey. Associates were warmly welcomed, assigned to table discussions, and active in rituals and music.
While the Sisters moved through their leadership selection process, Associates met together. They shared their dreams for Association, the stories of their calls, and the actions Associates must take to move toward a viable future. Amid laughter and tears, our band of 20 moved from strangers to friends over the days.
On the last day of the Assembly, I (Anne) gave a report for Associates. I spoke to the results of the Associate survey and combined my comments with beautiful, photo-filled slides prepared by Jeanette. The faces of our California Associates became the face of Association for the entire Assembly. The Sisters, some understanding for the first time the power of Associates and Sisters working together, responded to the report with a long and enthusiastic standing ovation. From around the country, we continue to hear about important conversations occurring from a new place of understanding. God is good!
