In the hustle and bustle of buying Christmas gifts for family and friends on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, thousands of people celebrate Giving Tuesday (December 2nd) by giving gifts to their favorite charities. We hope you’ll take part this year and support the Sisters of Notre Dame. As a special incentive, a number of generous donors are supplying matching money (up to the first $5000).
This year all Giving Tuesday donations will help support our Sisters who work in Africa and Latin America…Sisters like Carolyn Buhs.
Sr. Carolyn is a gentle, unflappable soul whose steadfast faith in the Good God has allowed her to minister in parts of the world that most of us would flee from! Currently she is on her fourth year working in the newly formed, often volatile and dangerous, country of South Sudan.
While there she’s dealt with deprivation, malaria, extreme heat, looting and the constant threat of violence. But you won’t hear her complaining about any of this. She shares about her life and work calmly, always giving thanks to God.
Working under the auspices of Solidarity with South Sudan, Sr. Carolyn helps train teachers. She leads classes, edits teaching materials and serves as a librarian. Her joy at being able to help these young South Sudanese teachers is evident.
Please consider making a donation of $100 today, on Giving Tuesday, to support Sr. Carolyn and the many Sisters working in Africa and Latin America. Money raised helps pay for their daily living expenses, travel, housing and school supplies.
