Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, in Buenos Aires, the capital and largest city of Argentina. He attended a technical secondary school and graduated with a chemical technician’s diploma. Bergoglio worked as a bar bouncer and as a janitor while running test in a chemical laboratory. Bergoglio was elected pope in March, 2013 and took the papal name Francis. He’s been noted for his concern for the poor and commitment to interfaith dialogue.
Hispanic Cultural Month is from Septemeber 15 to October 15 when people recognize the contributions of Latinos in the United States and celebrate the culture.
