Celebrating our Catholic School Heritage


In honor of Catholic National Schools Week, we dipped into our archives to share these photographs from the College of Notre Dame, San Jose, 1893.The school opened in 1851 (the first of many schools in California opened by the Sisters of Notre Dame) and by 1868 had become California’s first chartered women’s college and known as the “best school for ladies” in the West.
