Donor Spotlights:

Dennis Lucey

Like many of our donors and friends, Dennis Lucey (Mt. Carmel ’54), can point to a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur whose dedication as a teacher exerted a strong positive influence in his life. In Dennis’s case, it was Sr. Veronica Skillin, his seventh grade teacher at Mt. Carmel in redwood City, who was “one of the great teachers and one of the great influences” in Dennis’s life.

As Dennis explains, “she gets credit for keeping me on the right track. I always knew that she had my best interests at heart.” In recognition of Sr. Veronica’s influence on his life, Dennis made gifts to the Sisters in honor of Sr. Veronica while Sr. Veronica was living, and since her death in 2015, he continues to make gifts to the Sisters in her memory through our memorial tribute program.

Rose Marie O’Leary

Blessed with a large circle of family and friends, Notre Dame San Francisco graduate Rose Marie O’Leary regularly makes time to honor birthdays, wedding anniversaries, send a congratulations or a get well soon with prayers. “I just want my family and friends to know I’m thinking of them.”

Most of Rose Marie’s remembrances are made on the anniversary of someone’s death. It has been important to Rose Marie to connect her thoughtful remembrances with the Sisters of Notre Dame with something more than a card, a prayer. Over 500 times, Rose Marie O’Leary has made a gift to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur who share her belief in the power of prayer. “The Sisters were such a gift to me,” Rose Marie says, “so why not give back to them?”
