The America to believe in must reject this climate of fear and hate sweeping our country. At our best we are a strong, resourceful and caring people; and our faith traditions provide trust in a caring God who prevents us from despair and gives us hope. Our trust in a caring God teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
We need to reject anti-immigrant and anti-refugee legislation, refuse to participate in the denigration and harassment of American Muslims and affirm that Black Lives Matter as much as any other human life.
The recent exchange between Donald Trump and the Muslim family who lost a son serving in the U.S. military shows the harm of our turning negative and fearful.
We don’t want fear to win!
